Thanksgiving recap

Thanksgiving Recap
6 days off for the hubby.  Solis got her play partner.  Mommy got her rest.  It was a relaxing and super fun Thanksgiving filled with family, laughs, and too much food,
even for this prego girl.
It all started with the eggless cookie dough (recipe found here).
I got creative with Solis's playgroup and made these fancy dancy acorn treats.  And when I say fancy, I mean, take a donut hole, spread some frosting, dip in sprinkles, and stick a pretzel in it.  Easy peasy.
Then we moved onto more dessert for Thanksgiving day breakfast.  A little too french toasty for my liking and the cinnamon roll taste was lost.  But that didn't stop the 3 of us from finishing the whole pan.  We did cut the recipe in half......if that justifies it? (Recipe)
After breakfast there was a little fort making....
and a lot of booty shaking to the parade.
We went to my parents for dinner and I was in charge of dessert.  Naturally, I brought pumpkin pie chocolate cake.  I made a copycat recipe of Cracker Barrel's double fudge coca cola cake.  As you can see, we are not a traditional Thanksgiving dessert family. (recipe)
My husband's side of the family is huge and they always have a holiday brunch.  I decided to forgo the sweet route for once and made these amazing muffin melts.  I thought I would never touch egg salad based on the smell alone but picked one of these suckers up at MOPS one day and was in love. (recipe)

Amidst all this eating, we squeezed in some home made turkey cards for cousins and grandparents.  Toddlers+paint+markers+stickers=a whole morning of fun.
Now that our week long pig fest is over, I am SO looking forward to eating healthy again and getting back on track.  It was fun while it lasted!  Happy Thanksgiving!!

17 weeks

17 weeks
Baby is now the size of:  an onion
Total weight gain: 6 pounds
Maternity clothes: Not yet but I see yoga pants in the very near future.  I'm in that weird stage where it looks like I just have a gut.  Can't wait to have a firm baby belly!
Sleep: Still pretty good and sleeping through the night.  Gonna miss this!
Favorite meal this week: We had breakfast for dinner and we usually do something healthy (like eggs mixed with veggies & potatoes) but this week we went the dessert route and had french toast!  Solis was in love.  She dipped hers in syrup to her heart's content.
Exercise: Ran 30 min, 4 days.  The 5th day I went back to my favorite leg
workout from P90X.
Mood: Happy.....looking forward to feeling the baby move soon!!
Sickness: Feeling good this week!
Worst moment this week: I made eggless cookie dough.  I seriously ate from the bowl all day long.  I went to bed with a stomachache and woke up with a stomachache.  Lesson in gluttony learned.
Best moment this week: I was sitting on the couch and Solis came over, lifted my shirt, put her head on my belly, and said "I hug and kiss baby."  Ahhhh she is my sweetheart!

16 weeks

16 weeks
Baby is now the size of:  An avocado
Total weight gain: 5-6 pounds depending how much dessert I had that day.
Maternity clothes: Not yet!
Sleep: I get around 8 hours a night and occasionally have to get up to pee.
Favorite meal this week: For sure, Qdoba Mexican Grill followed by dessert at the Melting Pot.  Melt my pregnant belly why don't ya.
Exercise: Ran 5 days, 25 minutes, 9:13 pace on the treadmill.  And I do pushups after my runs.  After taking 7 weeks off b/c of the SH, I am easing back into it.
Mood: So much better now that the SH is gone!
Sickness: No more nauseousness.  I still get headaches almost everyday.  Tylenol does jack.
Missing: A glass of wine.  That would surely help with the headaches, right? ;)
I also miss running faster.
Worst moment this week: For the first time EVER, Solis didn't want me to get her out of her crib.  She cried for daddy, at which he excitedly swooped in and saved her.
Best moment this week: Solis telling me I'm her best friend. You are now forgiven, Soly.
Oh and probably telling the world we are now pregnant :)

We're Pregnant! Again!!

We're Pregnant!  Again!!

After 15 long weeks, the cat is finally out of the bag.  Why wait so long?
2 words: Subchorionic Hemorrhage....I will abbreviate it SH so I don't have to type those awful words anymore.

Let's backtrack.....We got pregnant in August.  Solis and I drove to my husband's work to tell him.  We were on cloud 9 until our first ultrasound at 8 weeks.  As we were leaving, the tech said, "You have a slight SH and are on pelvic and exercise rest until your doctor states otherwise."  I immediately googled it in the car and saw the word no expectant mother wants to see: miscarriage.

A SH is a type of blood clot found between the pregnancy membranes and the wall of the uterus.  I was surprised I had one b/c I wasn't having any spotting.  So for 7 loooong weeks, I sat on my butt (not easy AT ALL being an avid runner) and worried constantly I was going to lose this baby.  I was told the clot could either dissolve into my body or come out.  And if it comes out, it's going to come out needless to say, I was a tad paranoid going out in public!  The first trimester is rough enough with nauseousness, tiredness, and headaches but add the anxiety of a possible miscarriage b/c of a SH, it's an even bigger whammy of crap.

We prayed earnestly and trusted God with this child.  We prayed God would give us contentment no matter what the outcome.  I had my 2nd ultrasound at 10 weeks, the day after my birthday and found out the clot grew.  Happy birthday to me.  Couldn't even have a glass of wine to cheer me up.  But a Dairy Queen blizzard sorta did.

4 weeks later, we had our 3rd ultrasound and the clot was gone!  Prayers answered!!  No more pelvic rest! (Shaun rejoicing!)  No more exercise rest! (I was doing cartwheels out of the doctor's office.)  1st trimester done.  SH gone.
Time to tell the world our happy, happy news!!!
